OK, not really – at least, not ALL of the time! LOL Yeah, I’ll talk about myself some here, what’s going on, random thoughts, and the like. But I’ll also share things I’ve enjoyed, such as books, movies, tv shows, restaurants, whatever. I’ll post links to my reviews for Amazon Vineand Wild on Books, links to interviews I’ve done, recipes, jokes, and more. And I welcome your feedback and discussion via comments. So, that means it isn’t really all about me, I reckon… LOL
Some of you will be oh-so jealous of me when you see I’ve already read Lora Leigh’s June release, Bound Hearts: Forbidden Pleasure, and Jacquelyn Frank’s May release, Gideon: The Nightwalkers!
I read a lot of wonderful books this month, and wish I could have had at least 5 recommended reads. Since I could only have one, I had to choose Mackenzie McKade’s novel, Lisa’s Gift. It’s one of the most profound romances I’ve read in a while, and probably her best work to date.
I saw P!nk on Ellen yesterday and LOVED the song she performed! And it struck me that I’ve actually heard and loved several of her songs. I need to go order some of her CDs…
She reminds me of Pat Benatar: Powerful presence, amazing vocals, lots of attitude and a ‘you can’t hold me back’ rebelliousness. The songs are pretty dang good too.
I’m a fool for a nifty gadget. I come by it honestly – my Grandpa is an even bigger fool than I am for them. Of course, we both find some pretty cool stuff, too… We won’t talk about that hard boiled egg sheller Grandpa bought everyone one year… LOL
Being an obsessive reader, it stands to reason I’d be attracted to anything that makes reading easier or better, right? Right.
My current top 3 accessories for print books:
PageKeeper:http://www.pagekeeper.ca/ I bought this at a Books a Million store in the Nashville area. You clip it on your book, and a little wire arm marks your page for you, but still allows pages to be easily turned. But if you fall asleep while reading, the book clothes to where the PageKeeper marked your page last, which should be the spot you are currently reading.
Gimble:http://www.gimbleuk.com/ The Gimble fits around your paperback book and holds the book open while you read it. You can set it on the table and read completely hands free (except for page-turning, of course) or hold it. Holding the book with the Gimble requires less tension in the arm to keep the book open. I worried that page-turning would be a pain with this one, but it isn’t. The package I bought at Books a Million came with 2 – one to fit mass market paperbacks and a larger one for trade paperbacks. Rayovac Pillow Light:http://www.amazon.com/Rayovac-Reading-Pillow-Light-Colors/dp/B000FKHJ86/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/104-3271163-2819132?ie=UTF8&s=hpc&qid=1175447894&sr=8-1 I can’t tell you how many book lights I’ve gone through until I bought this one. They were all either too flimsy, too heavy, not bright enough, etc., etc. This one sits on the pillow and shines on your book. The base is weighted like a bean bag, and shifts to accomodate the surface you’ve set it on. The light itself can be rotated to hit the book just right. It takes 4 AA batteries, a relief from those book lights that require specialty batteries. I think I’ve had this one a year now and haven’t tired of it yet.
