OK, not really – at least, not ALL of the time! LOL Yeah, I’ll talk about myself some here, what’s going on, random thoughts, and the like. But I’ll also share things I’ve enjoyed, such as books, movies, tv shows, restaurants, whatever. I’ll post links to my reviews for Amazon Vineand Wild on Books, links to interviews I’ve done, recipes, jokes, and more. And I welcome your feedback and discussion via comments. So, that means it isn’t really all about me, I reckon… LOL
Hardly anyone has original commercial jingles or theme songs any more. I miss them. Today, they all use clips of hit songs in place of a real commercial jingle, or just a few notes of music with the opening credits instead of a theme song.
I still hear the ‘muncha buncha, muncha buncha’ lyrics from the old Fritos commercial when I see Fritos. I loved that commercial and when I was a kid, my little sister and I would time it so we’d eat a Frito on the ‘Crunch’ part of the song! LOL
And who can forget the Oscar Mayer Wiener jingle? I know plenty of people who still sing it and think of Oscar Mayer hot dogs.
Then take shows like Three’s Company, The Facts of Life, Gilligan’s Island, and The Brady Bunch. I have known every word of those theme songs ever since I can remember. Sometimes those songs come to mind and bring back fond memories of those shows.
Even better example: The song ‘Believe it or Not.’ You know the one I mean – the chorus goes “Believe it or not, I’m walking on air, I never thought I could feel so free…” Remember the song?
Most people do. A lot of people even remember it was the theme song to the tv show The Greatest American Hero, a largely forgettable program. But it achieved and maintained a greater fame because of its popular theme song.
In my honest opinion, tv producers and product manufacturers are missing the boat by not having original songs that customers and viewers will long associate with their show. Why use a pop hit that sounds cool but already has a place in the pop culture psyche that is not tied to their program or product? I know someone has used one of Supertramp’s hits in their commercial, but can I remember who it was or what product? Nope. I still think of Supertramp when I hear any of their songs.
Alright, I’m off my little soapbox… Feel free to chime in with your opinion or just your favorite theme song or jingle! I’ll be off singing today’s earworm, sparked by mention of George Clooney on the radio this morning…
“You take the good, you take the bad, you take them both and there you have the Facts of Life, the Facts of Life…” (Yep, George C. was on that show in the later years! Remember the hunky neighbor sporting a mullet?)
These videos are hysterical!!! In Mystery Science Theater 3000 fashion, they’ve taken an old movie, dubbed new lines, and made a twisted, but funny story from them. Pay attention to their names, and watch the videos in order. Also, there is no nudity, but there is some sexual content in the dialogue, so it would be best to watch these at home, and away from children’s ears and eyes… Unless of course, you are ready to have that ‘talk’! LOL
With only two releases out so far, Anna Campbell has made a place for herself among my favorite authors. She dares to tell the stories she wants to write, without compromising for what she thinks the public wants. The end result? Stories that are rich and compelling, with characters who are flawed people that find redemption and healing in each other’s love.
I’ve loved both of her stories, Claiming the Courtesan and Untouched. I highly recommend both to anyone who enjoys edgy historical romances. These books are not connected, so they can be read in whatever order you prefer. Untouched released today, and both are available from most book stores.
OMG. I got to read a copy of Dawn Ryder’s Hidden Urges and it is dang hot!!! It releases next Wednesday at Ellora’s Cave and I can’t wait for you all to read it too!!!!
I want me some Trenton in a real bad way. I could be submissive for a Dom like him, I KNOW I could. *sigh* Lucky, lucky Jane…
Well, I made some changes to my website . I took away the weather box thing on my front page. I never really liked it there, but I needed something to fill that space, so it stayed until I could think of something better. I mean, really. Who thinks, “I wonder what the weather is like for Jennifer right now?” Yup. No one. LOL Unless of course they are on their way to Nashville to visit me…
So Lucy Monroe has this great new book trailer out for her upcoming release, Deal With This. And she’s encouraging friends and fans to post it on their websites, blogs, wherever. I loved the idea.
So, from now on, the weather box thing is vamoose and that spot on the front page of my website will be where I will feature a book trailer from a favorite author, kicking things off with Lucy’s, of course! Go watch it on my website and at the end, you’ll be presented with the code that you can paste into your own site or blog if you want to show it on your own place on the web.
What about the contest, you ask? Well, the fabulous, NY Times best selling author Lora Leigh has a wonderful contest on her website right now with 3 prizes to some very lucky people! My contest for a copy of Lora Leigh’s NY Times Bestseller (#13) has ended, and I’ve announced the winner on my website. Thanks to everyone who entered, and keep an eye on my site for a new contest in the next month!
LOL, I’m talking about the monthly review postings at Kwips, of course! Yep, the new reviews have gone live for November, and I got to read a lot of great books this month.
And now I see why I’ve been so exhausted this last month! I posted 14 reviews this month, but I really wrote 28 reviews for November. You see, I believe each story in an anthology deserves an individual review. So in the case of a book like the Ellora’s Cavemen: Seasons of Seduction III anthology, which has 6 stories, I actually wrote 6 reviews for it. And somehow I chose several anthologies for review this month…
Enough of my rambling, and on to the good stuff – my reviews! You will find links to all of my November reviews for CK2S Kwips & Kritiqes below, but you can see the entire team’s reviews by going to the CK2S Kwips & Kritiques website.
There are two more days left in which you can enter my contest for a copy of Lora Leigh’s NY Times Bestseller, The Nauti Trilogy, Book 2: Nauti Nights!
Check out my website for details on how to enter. The questions are really easy – I give you the answers on my website – but be sure to follow the directions for entering to the letter to qualify for the drawing. Only entries with correct answers and that have followed the instructions will be valid.
My iPod loves me, it’s very obvious to see. It just decided to play one of my all-time feel great songs – Bare Necessities from Disney’s movie The Jungle Book.
Doesn’t matter what kind of mood I’m in, I can’t help but smile and wiggle around when I hear this one!
And since I was taught to share… I would love you to post what your favorite feel-great songs are!
Lyrics
Look for the bare necessities
The simple bare necessities
Forget about your worries and your strife
I mean the bare necessities
Old Mother Nature’s recipes
That brings the bare necessities of life
Wherever I wander, wherever I roam
I couldn’t be fonder of my big home
The bees are buzzin’ in the tree
To make some honey just for me
When you look under the rocks and plants
And take a glance at the fancy ants
Then maybe try a few
The bare necessities of life will come to you
They’ll come to you!
Look for the bare necessities
The simple bare necessities
Forget about your worries and your strife
I mean the bare necessities
That’s why a bear can rest at ease
With just the bare necessities of life
Now when you pick a pawpaw
Or a prickly pear
And you prick a raw paw
Next time beware
Don’t pick the prickly pear by the paw
When you pick a pear
Try to use the claw
But you don’t need to use the claw
When you pick a pear of the big pawpaw
Have I given you a clue ?
The bare necessities of life will come to you
They’ll come to you!
So just try and relax, yeah cool it
Fall apart in my backyard’
Cause let me tell you something little britches
If you act like that bee acts, uh uh
You’re working too hard
And don’t spend your time lookin’ around
For something you want that can’t be found
When you find out you can live without it
And go along not thinkin’ about it
I’ll tell you something true
